Then a plan for tomorrow.

Simply a structured way of knowing where you ought to be with your project. It has been a mistake I have made in the past and I’m pretty sure some of you have as well.

Market research.

Most people have a product idea that they are all
excited about before they find out if the
market even wants what they have to sell.

They think market research is just about finding
a set of keywords with a large amount of searches.

When I started my first online business way back
in the days before Google, YouTube and even eBay
and Amazon, I spent more than a year talking with
people in my market.

I didn’t get paid a dime for it either. In fact,
I didn’t even think of it as “research” in the
traditional sense. I doled out free content by
the truckload and my prospects told me more than
what they probably tell their therapists.

Because I knew my prospects so well, knew what
their greatest desires are, knew what kept them
awake at night, it didn’t matter that when I went
to build a website I didn’t know what I was doing.

I didn’t know what HTML was.

I couldn’t even afford to purchase a domain name.

If I showed you that website you would laugh out
loud.

But you know what?

It didn’t matter because I gave my prospects
exactly what they wanted.

They were ready to buy from me even before they
landed on my website.

Wouldn’t you like your customers to be this eager
to buy from you?

To thoroughly research your market you are going
to have to talk to people.

You’ll ask them questions about what is important
to them.

How will you meet with these people?

How will you talk with them?

How will you even know what niche you should
pursue in the first place?

How will you create a product?  All of this makes sense, forming a relationship with your list is the most important thing you can do. Its all about trust.
